Where Words Matter as Much as Flavors

Named as a tribute to writer Charles Bukowski, Au Sud de Nulle Part is a welcoming refuge for readers, writers, and lovers of conversation. Designed as an inspiring place to write, study, brunch, or simply linger, the café offers both sweet and savory treats along with a charming, almost secret green courtyard.

A Cultural Haven for Exchange and Creativity

Tired of their former careers, Emmanuel Baroni and Allan Kurucz (pen name Luc Rulanska), both writers, fulfilled a shared dream by opening this literary café on Avenue Borriglione in the Libération district. Their love for words is matched only by their love for people.

“Our goal is to attract people of all ages who are interested in literature and to win them over with warmth, simplicity, and a soothing rhythm where everything remains to be imagined.”

An Atmosphere That Invites You to Slow Down

Designed by decorator Marylaure Nifle, the space encourages guests to stay awhile: wooden tables, pastel tones, greenery, cozy benches, soft cushions, photos of writers, and shelves overflowing with novels, essays, poetry, and staff favorites.

The scent of espresso, rustling pages, and hushed conversations create the feeling of a modern literary salon. Outside, the peaceful courtyard—with deck chairs, hammocks, and plants—offers a quiet escape from the city.

A Living Book Exchange

One of the café’s defining features is its book-sharing philosophy. Visitors are encouraged to borrow, leave, donate, and discover books freely. Titles circulate continuously, creating a vibrant, ever-changing literary ecosystem.

And if you fall in love with a book? Keep it—no one will ask for it back.

Simple, Thoughtful Food & Drinks

Beyond literature, Au Sud de Nulle Part is also a delightful gourmet stop. The menu includes classic coffees, plant-based milks, teas, and local craft beers from La Brasserie Artisanale de Nice.

Specialties include Pumpkin Spice Latte, Black Sesame Latte, and a refreshing Coffee Tonic with Schweppes.

In the kitchen, Allan prepares homemade pastries and comforting lunch options such as hot dogs, generous bagels, gooey croque-monsieur, savory cakes, and seasonal salads. Saturdays feature a hearty brunch.

A Living, Breathing Cultural Space

The café hosts a lively program of events:
• Author talks and book signings
• Creative writing workshops
• Watercolor painting and knitting workshops

An open intellectual playground where everyone is invited to listen, learn, create, and leave inspired.

The Little Extra

Au Sud de Nulle Part regularly showcases exhibitions by local artists, such as Dominique Brossard, who transforms old tools and objects into striking sculptural works.
