Start in Mode in Cannes: Celebrating Student Entrepreneurship and the Fashion Industry

On November 6, 2026, Cannes hosted Start In Mode, an event organised by Avenue Montaigne, the student association of SKEMA Business School. Bringing together 13 emerging designers, 19 runway presentations and a network of professional partners, the event showcased the creative energy of a new generation and the connections between education, entrepreneurship and the fashion industry on the French Riviera.

Fashion has always been a powerful platform for creative expression, innovation and entrepreneurship. On November 6, 2026, Cannes became the setting for Start In Mode, an event organised by Avenue Montaigne, the student association of SKEMA Business School, celebrating emerging talent and the next generation of fashion entrepreneurs.

More than a fashion show, Start In Mode highlighted the ability of student-led initiatives to bring ambitious projects to life, combining creativity with skills in management, communications, marketing, public relations and event production.

Cosmopolitan Riviera was present to cover the event, capturing the atmosphere, discovering emerging designers and highlighting the professional partners and creative talents contributing to the French Riviera’s vibrant cultural and fashion scene.

13 Designers and 19 Runway Presentations: A Showcase of Emerging Talent

Start In Mode brought together 13 designers for a total of 19 runway presentations. The featured creators included La Grande Marianne, Lou Cosentino, Lisa Mercier, Lisa-Lou Boyer, Aimie Guibilato, Alice Guigliano, Amélie Guichard, Anouck Filoque, Apolline Rault, Daphnée Hasson, Emma Barras, Jonathan Mancuso and Lina Exbrayat.

For these emerging designers, events of this kind offer a valuable opportunity to present their creative universes, gain visibility and introduce their work to a wider audience.

In an industry where brand identity, commercial positioning and professional networking are essential, fashion events also provide opportunities to establish connections, exchange ideas and build relationships with industry professionals.

Avenue Montaigne: Student Initiative Meets Entrepreneurial Ambition

Behind Start In Mode, Avenue Montaigne, the student association of SKEMA Business School, demonstrated how student-led projects can become valuable platforms for professional development.

Organising a fashion show requires much more than creativity. It involves coordinating participants, securing partnerships, managing suppliers, developing communication strategies, handling public relations and overseeing event production.

Through these responsibilities, students have the opportunity to put their academic knowledge into practice while developing practical skills that will be essential throughout their future careers.

Initiatives such as Start In Mode also help strengthen relationships between higher education institutions, businesses and professionals within the fashion and creative industries.

Bringing Together Education, Business and the Creative Industries

The event received the support of several partners, including Hôtel Martinez Cannes, Élysées Marbeuf, École de Condé, Avenue Montaigne, Les Coteaux, FAM Fashion & Makeup School, Enjoy Models and SKEMA Business School.

The diversity of these organisations reflects the connections between several key industries, including luxury hospitality, higher education, specialist training, fashion, beauty and business management.

These collaborations demonstrate the importance of professional partnerships in supporting creative initiatives. By sharing expertise, resources and networks, participating organisations contribute to the development of emerging talent while strengthening their presence within the professional and institutional landscape of the French Riviera.

The French Riviera: A Creative Destination for Fashion and Innovation

Internationally recognised for its luxury lifestyle, fashion, hospitality, tourism and major events, the French Riviera offers a particularly dynamic environment for creative industries.

Cannes holds a distinctive position within this ecosystem, thanks to its international appeal and its calendar of prestigious cultural, business and professional events.

Initiatives such as Start In Mode bring a new dimension to the region’s creative landscape, creating connections between students, entrepreneurs, educational institutions and established businesses.

They also contribute to promoting local expertise, encouraging new collaborations and giving emerging talents greater visibility.

From fashion and beauty to luxury, design and event production, the French Riviera continues to provide an inspiring setting for the next generation of creative entrepreneurs.
